With the holiday season in full swing, I find now is the time of year I get the most use out of party dresses and fancy shoes for both me and my girls. I enjoy occasionally having my girls dress in coordinating outfits, but I am fully in the non-smocking camp. I do not like smocked outfits (or chevron for that matter) at all. Call me crazy, but I grew up in New Jersey. We do not smock things up there. We put leopard print on it. Just kidding … sort of. Anyway, for those of you looking for locally sourced, non-smocked outfits for your girls, I am here to help you.
Trashy Diva sells amazing women’s fashions but did you know they also sell dresses for little girls? I love the vintage patterns, cut and style of the dresses. Bonus for having coordinating dresses for mom to wear. This year for our Christmas photos, the girls and I wore Trashy Diva. While the color and pattern choice may be surprising, the photos have been well-received. The dresses look cute while not looking too cutesy. And because these are not necessarily Christmas-themed dresses, they can get so much more use out of them. Plus, really… adults have ugly sweater parties which make fun of Christmas-themed sweaters. Why would I want to dress my kids in the equivalent?
Nolafionnah (who is also one of our generous sponsors) is a mama-run clothing company. Jessica hand makes everything out of her house. Her styles are adorable, and she also does custom work. Perfect 
for the holiday season are her corduroy jumpers, which come in pink and purple. The jumpers can be monogrammed on the front. While I don’t love smocking, the occasional monogram doesn’t offend my style. Since these dresses are pretty basic, they can be easily dressed up or down, depending on the accessories you pair with them. For a recent party, both my girls wore patterned tights and a cardigan. The older one chose sparkle shoes, and the baby wore a pair of Toms. We have upcoming reservations for tea at the Ritz, and I suspect the girls will wear these again. Besides being comfortable, they are also durable and will hold up to a trip to the playground or bounce house. The purple jumper is also a great dress to have on hand for Mardi Gras. Pair it with some American Apparel gold leggings, a feathered hairband and some beads and you are ready to hit the parades.
