St. George’s Episcopal Offers Two Great Summer Camps for 1 through 12 year olds {Sponsored}

This is a sponsored post from St. George’s Episcopal School, but we’ve received many inbound requests from families looking to make summer plans AND one of our very own contributors chooses to send her daughter to St. George’s and has had a wonderful experience with the school. We hope that by providing you information about specific camps in the city your summer planning will be just a little bit easier!

St. George’s Episcopal: A Parent’s Perspective

Mark, Jane and I joined the St. George’s last November when Jane entered their pre-k 1 program. I say that because I truly consider her teachers and Miss Emma (the Director of Early Childhood) a part of our extended family. There is nothing that caused me more anxiety than school selection, but from the moment I stepped foot on St. George’s unnamed (13)campus, I felt at home. I loved their approach to early childhood development, and I was amazed by the time and attention they focused on developing a curriculum (even for their youngest of pupils) centered around the children’s interests.

Because Jane loved her school so much, and because we had grown so comfortable there, we decided to enroll Jane in Dragon Camp last summer. We moved her up from two to three days a week and loved that in doing so she was exposed to even more. She had music with Miss Lala and French with Miss Fiona and movement with Miss Virginia. Her world was growing by the week! Each session she learned about a new topic: from their jungle study (her paper plate tiger is proudly displayed in my office) to things that move. Of course, the teachers also left room for good old fashioned summer fun. Jane loved exploring with paints in art and particularly favored their outdoor water play.

Mark and I often joke that if we could send Jane to college at St. George’s we would. It has been the perfect place for her and for us. We can’t wait to see what her second year of Dragon Camp has in store for her!

This means they can choose to participate primarily in sports or select other options such as art, cooking, yoga, science, jewelry making, martial arts, gymnastics, digital photography, dance, musical theatre and more.

Additionally, all campers enjoy several special days each session. From Rock Day to the Castletree Fair, to musical guests and much more…we want our campers to be engaged, entertained and inspired!

Reading sessions for 5- to 7-year-olds are offered ($90 per week, and one must commit to all three weeks of the session) for 40 minutes each day under the direction of a certified teacher with training and experience in reading instruction. Children will be grouped by age. This is a great opportunity for kids to sharpen their skills and learn to enjoy reading!dsc_0035 (2)
