March for Babies Kickoff

Premature birth is THE number 1 killer of newborns, and half a million babies are born too soon in the United States each year. The March of Dimes mission is to ensure more babies are born are healthy by helping all expecting women have full-term pregnancies. March for Babies is the March of Dimes biggest fundraiser that is a fun filled day of teams, families and friends getting together to help raise money to help more babies begin healthy lives.

March for Babies Kickoff 2014This year, the March for Babies walk in New Orleans is March 29th. All past, current and new teams are invited to attend their annual kickoff event. All those interested are encouraged to attend. The kickoff is intended to be a fun pep rally to get those excited for the upcoming walk and to meet and mingle with other teams. There will be refreshments and fun for all. The kickoff will be on January 29th from 3-5PM at Palm Tree Playground.

Did you know that 77 cents of every dollar raised by the March of Dimes, goes towards the mission and stays locally? Last year nearly $200,000 was raised. That’s a significant amount of money raised in New Orleans, and lots that have stayed to help fight prematurity locally in our city. This year, the walk will be at LaSalle Park on March 29th with Amerigroup  as the presenting sponsor, and George Buchler is the Chair for the New Orleans March for Babies for 2014.

For those who wish to form a team, make a donation or to learn more about the organization, please visit the March for Babies website.

We hope to see you at Palm Tree Playground on January 29th!
