What is New Orleans Baby & Child Fest?
New Orleans Baby & Child Fest is a Pregnancy and Parenting Expo… Big Easy Style. It is the largest event of its kind in the Southeast, and it’s right in our backyard! New Orleans Baby & Child Fest is celebrating 5 YEARS this year with the 5th annual expo taking place at the Pontchartrain Center on Saturday, October 4th from 10am – 4pm. This year’s event will include over 100 exhibitors, plenty of great shopping, thousands in giveaways, toddler town and a NEW Kids Zone, plus interactive music on stage, face painting, crafts, kid-sized fire truck, character meet & greets, family lounge, changing station, nursing lounge and the list goes on!
Who’s your child’s favorite character?
If you answered Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Curious George, Peg + Cat, Spider-guy, Batguy, Snow White, Cinderella or Alice & the Mad Hatter, your kids will be thrilled with our character meet & greets! Get your cameras ready!
But that’s not all. Limited registration is also available for Thinkerella workshops and Lego Bricks4Kids classes in our Kids Zone! Purchase tickets here.
The booths will include everything from boutiques to photographers, health and fitness, alternative birthing methods, toy stores, mommy and me classes and more! Be sure to check out the complete exhibitor list!
Come by yourself or with a spouse, friend, grandparent and/or children. However, if your main goal is to shop, it’s a good idea to bring a spouse or grandparent with you to watch your children so you can shop in peace.
How was Baby & Child Fest born?
When I found out I was pregnant with my first child, my husband and I were thrilled…and clueless. We had a lot of learning to do and fast. Baby registries, birthing options, classes, choosing a pediatrician and so much more left us confused. And that was all before we delivered our very healthy, 9 lb. 1 oz. baby boy, Jack. Each milestone introduced new questions and we slowly, but surely discovered new services and stores that were available to us. We thought, “what if all those businesses (local entrepreneurs with newly launched businesses as well as established ones) would come together under one roof for an event for expectant parents and young families to Learn, Shop & Play?!” That’s when New Orleans Baby & Child Fest was born. It was 2010, and I had a second baby boy on my hip by then. We knew we weren’t alone when 200 people were lined up at 10am when the doors opened to the Pontchartrain Center for the first expo and 3,000 attendees came through that day!
