Bentgo Boxes: A Unicorn Mom’s Guide to School Lunch

Bento Lunch Boxes for kids
When I was pregnant, I knew what kind of mom I wanted to be. I would have nicely dressed children, they would have their hair done perfectly for school, and their lunches would be made up of dinosaur-shaped sandwiches and healthy snacks, with water of course. Well, let me tell y’all, that perfect image is not how real life turned out. My son goes to school with a turkey sandwich, Cheetos, a chocolate chip cookie, and maybe some fruit chews if I feel fancy. Water? Shoot, he gets water, but it has to have flavor in it so I can make sure he is getting some form of hydration.

While sitting on my couch this summer, my ADD meds completely gone, the impulse shopping began. I had the most brilliant idea. I am going to try and make my son’s lunch like I originally had planned when he was in utero. I bought sandwich cutters in the shapes of all sorts of things. Now yes, my child is almost 13, he is most likely going to hate it, or maybe he will surprise me and love it.

My research has helped me to come across Bentgo boxes, which are, the cutest. These boxes are very sturdy and seal very nicely. The compartments are perfect for all the different types of food I plan to pack. The lunches they put in the pictures online are a bit overwhelming already, and the school year has not even started yet. I am going to do it though; I am going to have fun lunches for him.

I found Luncheswithlovsin on Instagram; her stuff is adorable, and I messaged her for a recipe for a pasta salad she posted, and she actually responded, which to me is awesome. Some people with several followers are not big on replying to you, at least that is my experience. Here are some of the ideas she posted that I am going to try my darndest to follow.

What does your child’s lunch consist of? Do you all want to take a bet as to how long I will be able to stick to this? I hope you all have a safe and wonderful school year!
