While we are disappointed to share this news, together with LCMC Health, we have made the decision to postpone the New Orleans Mom 2020 Egg Hunt planned for Saturday, March 21 on the Children’s Hospital Campus. In light of the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, and the City’s recommendations to cancel large public events, we believe this is the right decision to protect the personal health of our families and community.
As soon as it is safe to do so, we will move forward with plans to reschedule a family-friendly event (with all of the elements advertised to date) to a future date. Due to the unique nature of this event happening ON the LCMC Health campus, we ask for your support and understanding in not having a firm date just yet and that public safety is paramount. We are committed to bringing you and your family a fun and SAFE event as soon as possible. All purchased tickets WILL be honored at the future event with no further action needed.
We fully understand that this was marketed as an Easter Egg Hunt, but the overwhelming and vast majority of swag, giveaways (things like a vacation to Sandestin!), food and activities are enjoyable for children year-round. It is our hope that – with your continued and ongoing support – New Orleans Mom and its readers can be part of helping small businesses in New Orleans get through this unexpected and unprecedented time in history by hosting a community event when it is safe to do so. So many independent local businesses depend on events to stay afloat (face painters, DJs, janitorial, balloon artists, characters, etc) that it is our strong preference to postpone and help everyone stay on their feet when the time comes.
We ALSO hope that this will give local families something to look forward to (good for our mental health), as well as give children a sense of normalcy. Last but not least, we have an entire storage unit full of swag, snacks, product and goodies that we would love to get into people’s hands. So please hold onto those tickets and make plans to join us – we are of the mindset that we are all going to need a celebration in the near future and are hopeful to make that happen soon.
