True Life :: I Hired an Event Planner for My Baby’s First Birthday

She’s one, she’s not going to remember her party. First birthdays are always for the adults.

After the initial shock of finding out I was pregnant, I started to think of all the fun things I was going to do with my daughter throughout the years to come. The very first major event I wanted to have was her first birthday, I put money aside and all. I thought about all the things I wanted to do, the people I wanted to invite even how her pictures would look.

Making it easy for me

The month finally came and with all everything that went on throughout the year, I didn’t get to sit and plan out the biggest / first major event of her life. Next to her being born, of course. So, sitting down with my friend and her grandmother, we talked about all the actions that would take place for the party. During the planning period I got overwhelmed, and between the stress at home, work, and trying to do all these things while thinking, why is time not on my side?” So, I talked to an event planner.

Yes, I hired an event planner to plan my daughter’s first birthday party

Talking to the planner, I challenged her to a $1500 budget. I thought it wasn’t that bad of a goal to reach but when telling others, they thought I was out of my mind. I could feel the judgment coming from others because I made this decision but to me, it was super convenient and I didn’t have to worry about anything other than making the final decisions when it came to the party. Thinking about everything I wanted, the planner helped me make my budget work. I wanted her party to be kiddie as possible. Which meant the older kids, sorry to say, would be bored.

I didn’t need a venue, we had it at the house. I provided the food and some friends and family offered to help as well.

On the day of the party, I was very nervous but excited to see what the event planner had in store. They ordered a super cute cake and fun treats, a fun balloon set up and she even found a neat mobile soft play gym, from Little Gym and Jam.

My daughter had a blast, her little playmates had things to do, and the parents had a chance to enjoy the game while they played.

It was a success! The guests were amazed by how beautiful the party came out and the ones that judged understood why I did what I did.

I have no regrets

Would I ever do it again if I was to have another child? A resounding yes! I feel the big milestones should be celebrated; I won’t do it every year but the ages that are the most celebrated I would like to go all-in for.

Did you have a big celebration for your child’s first birthday? Do you think you would hire someone? Let me know.
