My Nighttime Newborn Life Hack

My Nighttime Newborn Life Hack

No, it’s not sleep. But I do wish it was! I don’t know about y’all but one of the hardest parts of having a newborn is the lack of sleep. Getting up what feels like a million times a night to feed and tend to a baby is exhausting. So I’ve found a way (other than the brand new squish) to make that more bearable.

Insert the Nighttime Caddy.

I am sure you have seen those cute little diaper caddies in store. And like me, you may have wondered if anyone actually uses them. Well, I am here to tell you that it may have taken me four babies, but I finally figured out how to make it useful for me. My sweet mother in love blessed me with this one and I was so excited! I hadn’t even told her that I wanted one this go around. When I first wanted one I had all intentions of using it for its intended purposes but then I had a stroke of genius! What if I filled it with all the things I needed in the middle of the night but weren’t right at my disposal? Wouldn’t that be a game changer? Yes, yes it would!

So then came the fun part – actually filling it. I put fun snacks, candy, granola bars, water bottle, diapers, wipes, butt cream, burp cloth, extra outfit and anything else baby may need. And then I took this to the next level by setting up our office as my home away from home for nighttime feedings. Comfy blankets included!

I don’t like keeping my husband up at night while I’m tending to the baby since he has to work, so when the baby wakes I always leave the room. Sounds like it would suck but y’all it has been a game changer! I have snacks that I don’t have to share with anyone! I have everything I need for the baby right there. I have a television that I get to watch what I choose. So instead of making this an ‘Ugh, I don’t want to get up because I am so tired’ experience, it has now turned into a ‘Yes!! I get to get up!’

Perspective changes everything, my friends. Maybe I am too sleep deprived to realize how silly this is or maybe I am onto something here. But with four kids? I’ll take whatever I can get to make those nights that much easier. So if you find me scrolling IG or posting at some random hour, don’t mind me. I am just living my best Newborn Night Life.
