2019 Guide to Easter Events In and Around New Orleans

It is always time to celebrate something in New Orleans and now that Mardi Gras has come to an end, we must look forward to our next fun holiday … Easter. As usual, there is plenty of fun stuff to do. We have put together a list of all the fun Easter events around the New Orleans metro area that we could find, so get those cute Easter outfits and cameras ready!

Easter Events in New OrleansEaster Egg Hunts

Cabrini Alumnae Easter Egg Hunt: March 23, 2019. This is an Easter egg hunt for Cabrini Alumnae. There will be activities for adults and children. The event is free. 10am-2pm (egg hunt begins at noon) at Cabrini High School.

Longue Vue Easter Egg Hunt: On April 6th, 2019, hop on over to Longue Vue House and Gardens (with your Easter basket) for a morning of egg hunting, face-painting, lawn games, plant sales, and even more fun! There are two hunts to choose from. The morning egg hunt is from 9:30-10:30 am. The hunt starts at 10:00. The afternoon hunt is from 1:30pm-2:30 pm. The hunt starts at 2:00pm. Members $12; Non-Members $15. Children 2 and under are free at both hunts. Each hunt will have age specific areas. Pre-registration to either hunt is required. You must bring your e-receipt to check-in at the gate. The rain date is Saturday, April 13th.

Easter Experience and Egg Hunt hosted by First Baptist Church Marrero: April 6, 2019.  Children will experience Easter through interactive and multi-sensory activities and then participate in an Easter Egg Hunt. Refreshments will be served and all ages are welcome. 10:00 am-12:00 pm at L.H. Marrero Middle School.

St. Charles Community Easter Eggstravaganza: April 7th, 2019, 4:00-6:00pm. There will be games, an egg hunt, bounce houses, food, a petting zoo and the Easter bunny! Free and open to all.

New Orleans Opera Association Easter Egg Hunt: Sunday, April 7th at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $15. Children 2 and under are free.

Sheriff Marlin N. Gusman’s 14th Annual Easter Egg Hunt: April 13, 2019. This Easter Egg hunt is free and open to the public. It consists of four Easter Egg Hunts, starting with a hunt for children ages 1-3 at 11 a.m.; children ages 4 – 6 at 11:15 a.m.; children ages 7- 9 at 11:30 a.m. and children ages 10 -12 at 11:45 a.m. Participants can exchange the eggs they find for a gift bag filled with candy. There will also be sack races, face painting, and arts and crafts. Children and their parents are encouraged to arrive early and register to receive same-day, free admission to the Audubon Zoo. It is located at “The Fly” behind Audubon Zoo from 10:00am-1:00pm.

NORD Commission’s Easter Eggstravaganza (Behrman Memorial Park & Joe W. Brown Park): It’s NORDC’s 6th annual Easter Eggstravaganza! Kids can meet the Easter Bunny and hunt for eggs filled with candy and prizes. They will have face painting, space walks, carnival style games, races, and refreshments. It is free and open to all. Please bring your own Easter basket. 11:00am-2:00pm

City Park Egg Scramble: April 13th and 14th, 2019. They will have music, face painting, the Easter Bunny, and a balloon artist. There will be 36,000 eggs for your kids to find. 9am-12pm. $10/person General Admission or $5/person Friends of City Park members. Babies under 1 year old will be admitted free. City Park will provide a basket. The Easter Egg hunt begins at 10 am. There will be 100 golden eggs containing tickets to City Park attractions.

NOMA Egg Hunt and Family Festival: April 13, 2019. Join NOMA for their annual Easter Egg Hunt. There will be art activities, bounce houses, music, face painting, hula hooping, a juggler/magician and a petting zoo.  10 am- 1pm, $10/NOMA Member (Adults and Children), $15/Non-Member (Adults and Children), $18 (NOMA Member and Non-Member, Day of Event), Children 2 and under are free.

Connect Church of Algiers Free Community Easter Egg Hunt: April 14th, 2019. There will be free food, inflatables, balloon animals, face painting, Easter crafts, and an EASTER EGG HUNT. There will also be a baby and toddler play area. The Egg Hun will be divided into age groups: Walkers – 3-year-olds, 4 – 7 year-olds, and 8 – 12-year-olds. Free event. 1pm-3pm.

Liuzza Land’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 20th from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm in Amite, Louisiana. The Easter Bunny will be in attendance. You can also hunt for eggs, pick strawberries, have your face painted and enjoy pony rides in addition to a petting zoo. Open to all ages. Egg hunts will be divided by age groups. Tickets are $10. Children under 2 are free. You must print out your confirmation email receipt and bring it with you as proof of purchase.

St. Tammany Easter Eggstival: April 20, 2019, 11:00-4pm. Family friendly event with an egg hunt, door prizes, raffles, pictures with the Easter Bunny, food, games. Admission is $3 per child. Adults are free. 663 Brownswitch Road, Slidell, LA 70458.

Easter Picnic and Egg Hunt at First Baptist Kenner: April 20, 2019. They will have hamburgers, hot dogs, snowballs, crafts, mini-golf, face painting and an Easter Egg Hunt. They will also draw for door prizes (registration required).  5pm and FREE!

English Turn Easter Brunch and Easter Egg Hunt: April 21 2019, 11am-2pm in English Turn. Call 504-392-2200 to make your reservation.

Easter Parades

36th Annual Chris Owens French Quarter Easter Parade: April 21, 2019. The parade will begin at the corner of St. Louis and Royal at 1:00 pm, continue down Royal to Canal to St. Phillip Street and conclude on St. Louis and Royal at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel. Colorful floats will throw Easter trinkets. After the parade, you can enjoy a champagne brunch at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel.

The 20th Annual Official Gay Easter Parade: April 21, 2019. This parade highlights the creative LGBT community. Beautiful Easter hats will be in abundance! It starts at 4:30 pm.

Easter Brunches/Teas/Parties

Easter Egg Decorating Party at Sucre (Conti location): March 26, 2019. Please join Sucre for a family friendly Easter Egg Decorating Party on Conti Street in the French Quarter! Hop into springtime with festive sweets starring your  own edible art!  Each child will get three (3) chocolate eggs to decorate and a milk chocolate bunny to take home with them. A ticket also includes one Italian soda, one adult coffee drink and a brown Sucré childrens’ apron. Tickets are $50 per person and are sold on Eventbrite. Sales end April 1st so hop on to it!

Brunch with the Bunny: April 13, 2019.  Have brunch with the Easter Bunny at Clearview Mall. The buffet brunch includes shrimp and grits, a kids pancake station and other traditional breakfast items. The bunny will visit each table for photo ops so be sure to bring your camera! Tickets will be available online soon and space is limited. Professional photo packages will be available for purchase after brunch with Daigrepoint Photography. 11:00am-1:00pm. $20/person.

Dave & Busters New Orleans – Breakfast with the Easter Bunny: April 13, 2019. Breakfast will be served from 8:00am-10:30am. There will also be an Easter Egg Hunt from 10:30am-11:00am. Breakfast is $16.26 (incl. tax and gratuity). Breakfast & $10.00 Power Card with Unlimited Video Game Play Price: $28.76 (incl. tax and gratuity). Chidren 3 & under are FREE with purchase of a Package. There will also be pictures with the Easter Bunny, coloring and cartoons. Please bring a camera.

Kids Easter Cooking and Craft: April 14, 2019. Head on over to Empty Nest Cafe and Bar in Metairie and learn how to make a special Easter breakfast and edible craft. $10.00 per child. Please call 455-7040 for reservations. This event is expected to sell out so please call soon. 2:30pm-3:30 pm.

Hoppin’ Down the River Easter Cruise: April 20, 2019. Hop down the river on the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen with Bourgeois the Bunny. There will be a lunch buffet with yummy options for adults and children. An alligator from the Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour will be there for you to take pictures with. Boarding: 10:00-10:30 am and 1:30 – 2:00 pm. Cruising Time: 10:30am-12:00pm and 2-3:30 pm Adults/$59, Children (3-12) /$39, Children (0-2)/$10.
